Big Dig collapse… because I have to say something

Posted on July 11, 2006 by Angela

I am fuming over the news of the I-90 connector collapse. I was pissed when I first heard about the leaks in the O’Neill Tunnel. Now, people are dying. Can you imagine what would have happened if the concrete ceiling fell during the afternoon?! I drive through these tunnels ALL THE TIME. That could have easily been me, my sister, her boyfriend etc.

Basically, in the Ted Williams tunnel, one will get smooshed by falling concrete, and we’ll drown in the leaks of the O’Neill Tunnel.

So, you’re not from Massachusetts and you don’t really care about our faulty tunnels? Hate to break it to ya, but a lot of federal money went into these tunnels (i.e. your money).

It just sucks that it takes the death of a poor woman before something is finally done about all the corruption and incompetence surrounding the Big Dig.

I heard about that on the radio for a few seconds on my way to work today (on the emergency alert channel on my XM radio), but I didn’t know it was THAT bad.

But you know, I can liken this to the levee failures after Katrina. It sucks that almost 2000 people had to die before someone pointed out the corruption and incompetence of the New Orleans Levee Board and the Army Corps of Engineers…

So I suggest that we overthrow the government.

Is’nt the big dig the most expensive civic works project ever in the U.S.? And the thing is a leaky deathtrap. Only in good old Massachusetts. What a stupid state this is. No wonder people make fun us.

It was sad to hear a newlywed woman was killed and already finger pointing has started, I drove thru going to Logan never thinking twice, how naive I was. I am afraid to drive across bridges here in CT. They have a habit of falling down.
All who work for goverment are crooks! And contractors are just as bad.

It’s a horrible situation. And Thank God they are finally investigating. It’s shameful it takes this kind of tragedy to get an investigation going, but Mitt is on a witch hunt to get Matt Amorello and thats messed up. The big dig and the tunnel were a big disaster long before Amorello came along.

    just awful.

You’re right, a lot of money was spent. And a lot more will have to be spent to fix it. That’s typical though of huge public works projects like this. I just hope no one else dies or is seriously injured, and I hope you guys up there don’t have to live in fear everytime you drive through there.

think you’re game for winning some cash by participating in the challenge this year? as long as you think you can stay in it all year long, there’s a spot waiting for you :)

there investigating but I don’t trust any one in the Massachusets government to investigate this. We are a small sate with esentialy on politcal party… the politicians all are in eachothers pockets. An avenging kick-ass angle of justice might beable to sort things out but… probably not…

the good news is if the whole thing colapes some day it will take most of the city with it.
