What ever happened to being NICE?

Today, a deranged women called my office to find out why a photo of her children didn’t run in last week’s edition. It seems as though one of our shithead photographers promised her the photo would run. I tried to explain to her that the editor, not the photographer, makes the decisions on what photos to run. I also asked her if I could take a message and the editor could call her back to explain. She told me to go fuck myself and promptly ended the call. Maybe, if she wasn’t such a bitch, I would have put the photo in this week’s edition. I was really tempted to give her the home number of the photographer so he could explain to her why the photo didn’t run despite his promise.

Oy, sorry to hear things haven’t changed much since I got out of local journalism (although the WORST was when the back shop lost the color photo of some poor accident victim, the one the father had taken off his mantel and given me on my solemn oath I would get it back to him for the wake, and then I had to call him to tell him, um, sorry, the bozos out back lost it).

Here’s the kicker, when looking today, I noticed the photographer only gave us the three photos that we did publish. So, even if we wanted to publish her photo, we couldn’t.

It’s just the photographer. No one likes him. A city councillor punched him in the face last summer, if that’s any indication of how well he’s liked. ha ha
