Damned if you do, damned if you don’t 4

Posted on April 30, 2007 by Angela

It’s remarkable how unhappy people are about the trade for Randy Moss! It’s almost as if they WANT Moss to cause problems. I’m sure Dan Shaughnessy won’t mind… he seems to hate all Boston sports teams anyway. The Patriots traded practically nothing for one of the most talented receivers in the entire NFL. And Randy so desperately wants a ring, he took a massive pay cut to come here.

I like what Steve DeOssie said on WEEI today, that the veterans who have been here from the beginning (Bruschi, Seymour, Brady) are very protective of what they have created and, as anyone who has ever attended high school will tell you, peer pressure is a strong motivating force.

If we’re going to sit here and piss and moan about reputations, c’mon… that’s one of the lamest arguments I have ever heard. If you speak to LaDainian Tomlinson, he’ll tell you our reputation is low-class anyway.

Last season, a casual Patriots’ observer would think the sky was falling after the Patriots traded away Deion Branch. “Tom Brady is going to lose faith if they’re not giving him any weapons,” they said. Well, now Brady has an AK-47 and those same people are upset. Make up your minds!

I love this trade. I love it so much, I was shaking with excitement all day yesterday. I think Randy Moss is going to shut his mouth, work his butt off, and help the Patriots get to Arizona. Remember, he has Tom Brady to answer to now… he’s not taking orders from Aaron Brooks anymore and I’d like to see him walk off the field during a game and answer to Rodney Harrison.

The only thing that scares me is could Bill Belichick be stacking his team to make one final bid for the Super Bowl and then call it quits? Now, that terrifies me more than a trouble making Randy Moss.

Welcome to New England, Randy 3

Tom and Randy

I’ve let it sink in a little that Randy Moss is, in fact, coming to New England. I’ve been keeping updated on everything thanks to Mike Reiss. And most importantly, The Boston Globe asked Rodney Harrison what he thinks about the trade.

“Let’s get a chance to know the guy before we make any judgments. If he comes in and is selfish, there are going to be problems. But if he has the right attitude, it will be huge for us.” – Harrison

Brandon MeriweatherThat’s what I’ve said all along. Head cases are dealt with swiftly by veterans like Harrison and Bruschi. They know how to win and they know it only comes when you put the team first. Guys like Deion Branch didn’t get it.

And worst case scenario: We can just sic new safety Miami Hurricanes’ Brandon Meriweather (shown left) on him. He appears to know how to kick some ass. But in all seriousness, the same can be said for the Patriots’ first round draft pick Meriweather. He’s going to be learning from Harrison. I am expecting Meriweather to make the same progress that Eugene Wilson made when learning from the great Rodney.

All I can say is, this is going to be the longest summer ever!

Randy Moss, for the gazillionth time 3

ADDENDUM: Pardon my French but HOLY SHIT! Oakland agrees to send Randy Moss to New England for a fourth round pick. What incredible news to wake up to!

randyMy dad has been saying this for a long time… he firmly believes Randy Moss will become a Patriots at some point. The guys on NFL Network (Adam Schefter, specifically) think it’ll happen. Could it really happen? I still think it’s a pipe dream but we’ll see. It would seem unfair, almost obscene, to have Randy Moss. I can tell you one thing though, finally… FINALLY… we will never have to hear about Deion Branch again!

If a trade with Oakland does come to fruition, you can be sure that my dad is going to be super angry with me for not helping him post to his site (the real reason why it has gone untouched for quite some time).

IT’S NFL DRAFT WEEKEND 4

Posted on April 28, 2007 by Angela

At this point in the year, I am so starved for anything NFL-related, I get butterflies even thinking about the Draft. Well, the wait is almost over! It’s NFL Draft weekend! It’s exciting… who will be the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? Who will the Patriots take? Which team will make the biggest draft blunder *cough Houston cough*? NFL Draft weekend is like one big Monopoly game. The only difference is that, unless you’ve really done your homework, you don’t know which player is Boardwalk and which is Baltic Avenue.

I don’t follow college football so I am pretty much clueless about who’s going where and to whom. Looking at recent picks like Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren, I have complete faith in Bill, Scott and all the scouts. What I do know is that the Patriots are probably going to be selecting linebackers and secondary but you never know what they’ll do when they hold two first round picks.

Schill is pissed 0

Curt Schilling is mad as hell about the suggestion his bloody sock was nothing more than paint and PR bullshit. Although this story is old news, I like how he takes a jab at Woody Paige. I hate Woody Paige! Thanks, Curt. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one.
