Tonight’s the night. Yep, it’s that time of year again… the dreaded Yankees are back in town for the start of the season within the season – The Yankees Suck – 2007 edition. It’s only the third week in April but every Yankees-Red Sox match up feels like a playoff game, and this year is no different.
I’m a casual Red Sox fan – most of my professional fan-dom goes to my one love, the New England Patriots. At the end of the day, there isn’t much devotion left for me to give, but when the Yankees come to town, I put my Patriots Nation card in my back pocket, don an Ortiz jersey, and clear my throat to chant, “Yankees Suck.” The rivalry is overwhelming – almost inescapable, even for a devout Patriots/football fan.
I don’t care if Gay-Rod is “white hot,” tonight I wanna watch a Yankee ass-whooping. Now, it’s baseball season.
