Lesson learned: mindlessly shoving cash into your pockets is always a good idea

Posted on June 18, 2007 by Angela

I would be hard-pressed to find a pleasure in life greater than that of finding old money in a long-untouched pair of jeans. You can imagine my delight yesterday when I casually put my hand in my pocket and pulled out a ten dollar bill.

“Yes, I think he’s one of their best play makers– I just found a few bucks in my pocket. Isn’t that nice? That’s a good feeling, isn’t it? About 40 bucks.” — Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, at a pre-AFC Championship press conference.

Even Tom Brady revels in finding money in his pocket. A guy who makes millions a year and dates a supermodel is excited to find 40 measly bucks in his pocket.

I have a bad habit of shoving money in my pants’ pockets. Despite this, I rarely find money because my dad takes much of it when he does my laundry. I guess it acts as my dad’s tip for doing my laundry. Spare me the, “you’re almost 28 and your dad still does your laundry?!?!” For us, it is a win-win situation: my dad likes doing laundry and I like having a constant stream of clean, folded clothes in my closet. Anyway…

When I do find money, I consider it a little gift from past-Angela. Two weeks ago, Angela left me a ten dollar bill. What a nice girl she is.
