How do people down South handle heat? I really want to know because I’m dying in this 90 degree hell. Yes, I’m one of those Yankee babies that can’t tolerate anything over 80. For this reason, you will never, ever, EVER hear me complain when we get a blizzard, a deep freeze, a prolonged winter, etc. Call me crazy but I actually ENJOY the wintertime. I like snow storms. No, I LOVE snow storms. I love being able to curl up on the couch with a glass of hot chocolate and watch the snow fall with a football game on TV. I love having the ability to cover my flabby belly in a giant sweater and heavy winter coat. I love scarfs and hats and gloves.
I’ll tell you one thing, at least the heat in my car works, unlike that lazy air conditioner and its busted freon tank. Jerks. I’d really like to know how they can put a man on the moon but they can’t make a car with an air conditioner that will last longer than five years.
I’ll tell you another thing, driving a car 40 miles with no air conditioning is like being in a giant oven set to “broil.” Throw in some traffic and I think I have a pretty clear picture of what Hell is actually like. We had to drive to New Hampshire today to drop off my boyfriend’s son. What a miserable afternoon it turned out to be. Rolling down the windows proved to be completely ineffective and any air that did blow in felt like a hair dryer.
So, all the New Englanders can curse me out all they want, I miss the winter… badly. Summertime sucks.
until I visit the Patriots Hall of Fame!

Girl, I live near Seattle and anything over 65 is too hot for me. I’m considering Alaska for the future(when I finsh my BSN). Seattle thinks it is LA this summer and sucks. You have my empathy.
In the South, we all have Central Heat & Air.
As a New Englander transplanted to Florida, all I can say is summer for us is the reverse of winter up there. We stay in, where it is comfortably climate controlled, and watch baseball on tv, waiting patiently for late October when the weather becomes bearable. All of this is worth it for the month of march, when the weather is as near to heaven as Autumn is in New England. Why anyone vacations in Florida between the months of June and September is entirely behind the realm of my comprehension. Case in point: it is presently 90* at my home (outside only, thank God) at 9:31pm. Gross.
Hilarious post. We’re pretty toasty down where I am too. I was out yesterday playing basketball in the humidity. Good lord. At least I lost a few pounds.
Yep heat suxxx, come and get a taste of Bahrain at this time of the year, hotttt and stickkkyy humid. I am willing to bet, all you gonna say is Bahrain suxx…lol. Its a lovely place to live in anyway.
Take care and cheers
Finally, today the temp is a nice 75. Ahhhh.
Thank God you had a bit of air blowing no matter how
You have it good up there compared to us in the mid-Atlantic. NYC and Philly are ridiculous in summer. The humidity is enough to make me wish for death. I’m living in Buffalo now though and I swear, it’s still too fucking hot. I don’t think I remember summers being this bad when I was a kid…
I’m a real baby when it comes to heat. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Today’s weather update - it’s 67 outside. PERFECT!
I totally agree with you. I hate the heat, I hate having the sun beating down on my neck with out a cloud in site. Give me 75-80 degrees and i’ll be happy..
My bank said 105F today.
Knoxville’s in a valley … no wind. 88% humidity. High altitude. It hurts…
I can drop 10 pounds in a day just from water loss…
…so I try to stay inside.
I cannot say that I miss the winter as I have two air conditioners going in the house and I don’t set door out the door unless I have to, but I do miss Autumn.
You couldn’t pay me to move back to the north… I don’t do snow. HOWEVER… that being said… San Diego is the PERFECT place to live. I swear, it’s 75º year round here. On the coast, I don’t think we’ve topped 80º more than a few times this summer. I love it!! And there is NO humidity!!! Can’t beat it!!
