The New NFL.Com: Fancy Shmancy

The NFL redesigned its website. Ooooooh… it’s so clean, so Web 2.0-y. I love it. It loads faster, too. Yet another reason why the NFL is the best professional sports organization in the country. My old, piece of junk laptop can’t handle MLB.com.

  1. I just saw this now, I think it will take a little getting used to. I like the fact that the headlines stand out more. By the end of the season I’m sure I will have had adjusted ! 😉

  2. Yeah, agreed. I hate change.

  3. Change always sucks, but we eventually get used to it! When Facebook changed a little it took me a while to get used to as well.

I own NFLcatch.com and am debating whether or not I should try developing it into a website or sell it. I heard that people don’t buy domains with trademarks in them. 🙁 If I had more time I’d probably start developing it now, but it’s hard with a job and school coming up.

  4. J

fuck the new nfl.com i cant even see the field wen they play nemore, fuckin stupid

  5. I haven’t seen it yet during a game. I will be glued to it on Week 1 though. I like it. Hate to say it, but I think redesign is a good thing as long as it doesn’t interrupt the normal process or browsing. I agree with “J” though. I liked seeing the field on the GameCenter page. That visual really helps put things into perspective.

I’m going to reserve further comment until I see it in action on Week 1.

  6. They removed the field?!?!?! I am addicted to Gamecenter during games! I haven’t used it during a game yet. Usually, I have every game open in a different tab for fantasy purposes. I rely on that field when watching pats games!

  7. Sorry, I’m terribly lazy. I couldn’t see a search box, so I couldn’t see if you had commented on Moss lately. Whatcha think of him this year… is he getting healthy?

Of course, I have Fantasy Football reasons to inquire. He’s taking up a huge chunk of my budget, and I’m thinking about dumping him and picking him up for cheaper. 🙂

  8. I’m excited about Moss but I don’t know about his Hammy. The Patriots are so tight-lipped. They’re probably resting him for the season. If anything, I think Wes Welker might be the steal of the fantasy draft because I think he’s going to be Brady’s go-to guy.

  9. Nice look and layout but 1) they changed the URLs to player profiles so all us football bloggers who linked to those profiles have a bunch of broken links, and 2) why can’t we embed video or photos?

By the way, as a Minnesotan who was lucky enough to watch Randy Moss during the best years (so far) of his career, you guys are in for a VERY fun season with Tom Brady throwing him the ball. I can’t wait to see it!

  10. I can’t wait to see Moss break loose. It’s funny how the reaction I’ve gotten from Vikings fans is all positive and the reaction I’ve gotten from Raiders fans is all negative. Ha ha.

  11. Site is slow, I don’t like it. Can’t be sure, but it also looks like there are not updates on the main scores page either (where it used to show the last play for every game in near-realtime).

But, they DO have the field… and it looks much better… more animated. So I like the game center, but yet to be seen on the Scores page.

BTW. Had to get rid of Moss in my keeper league 🙁 He was costing me too much. I am really hoping I can pick him back up though.

  12. I like how the Gamecenter has each team’s individual stats on each side of the page and the field in the middle. It’ll be much easier on game days. I did notice it’s slower… I hope they work out the kinks by next week.
