18-1 *sigh*

They survived Spygate, Run-It-Up-Gate, and 16-0-Gate, but they couldn’t survive the Giants’ pass rush. To say I’m crushed would be an understatement. šŸ™

The Giants earned this one. They deserve it.

Sorry ’bout the loss. You still have the ‘sox and celtics to root for. The giants were just a little better today. To bad Samual couldn’t make the int or the d line couldn’t take Eli down on the wild play on the last drive.

  2. Steven Jens

That winning drive was pretty impressive.

I wish it had been a little less impressive.

  3. I think we can all safely say it was a great game.

  4. I’m a Giants fan, but I never expected them to pull this off like they did. When I saw Eli getting out from 4 D’ Pats grabbing his jersey and firing a bomb to Tyree who caught the ball with his helmet, I knew they were going to win. Unbelievable.

Sorry there had to be a loser, but I wonder what Belichick thinks about his decision to go for it on 4th down now?

  5. Angela… I think your post pretty much summed up my feelings. You know I wasn’t hating on your boys, but I feel good for Eli. He deserved it, and he deserved to get the moniker of “the lesser Manning” off his shoulders somewhat too.

And Lincoln brings up a very interesting though in regards to the decision to go for it on that 4th. I don’t that THAT was what cost them the game (I’d say a bite on a “double move” and SOMEHOW allowing Manning to get away from that one tackle), but it’s still an interesting thing to ponder.

  6. Sorry about that loss…at least it came down to the wire. It was a great game.

  7. Totally agree, Linc. When I saw that, I was ripping out my hair! Play of the game. As I’ve mentioned before, I like the Giants, just not when they’re playing the Pats. šŸ™‚ But, yeah, I’m happy for Strahan. It’s so cliche – to win, you gotta get at Brady, and that’s what they did.

  8. In my humble opinion, Osi should’ve gotten MVP.

  9. I might be ok with Eli getting the MVP just on that one play where he SHOULD HAVE BEEN TACKLED and he somehow pulled out the MIRACLE evade. CrAzY.

  10. Rough day today Ang. But there is always next season.
    GO PATS.

Been reading your blog awhile now. Wanted to post something in light of the loss. My first response was to be absolutely crushed but then I gave it some thought and realized what the boys did this year was really great- losses come and go, while it sucks it was on the big game…there will be more good wins, and more grueling losses. That’s football for ya.

I once read, it is how you handle setbacks that show the true measure of a man/team/etc…and that is how I am gonna look at it not by what those bullsh*t media peeps say.

All that said, good game for the Giants. They played fierce.

  13. “We,” Gambit? You can’t just switch teams at the end of the season kiddo. šŸ˜€

Totally agree, mellyh. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

I’m sorry Angela, but Ive always rooted for the Giants, despite being a glutton for punishment Jets fan. In fact, when I first moved to NJ from Indiana I iniitially adopted the Giants as my team, LT was the man back then! I think the reason why it wasnt the Jets first was due to that turdball Gastineau… Every Super Bowl everyone ends up rooting for one team over the other, and I must say there was no way in hell I would ever root for any sh*t team from Mass.!!! .. On a lighter note tho.. I do hope you have a glorious week Angela. šŸ™‚

    btw… You’re 18-1 T-Shirt and Hat are in the mail.. šŸ˜‰

  15. As I said, I always root for the Giants as well, but that doesn’t mean you can switch your allegiances. šŸ˜‰ By the way, do you have my correct address? Just want to make sure my 18-1 shirt and hat arrive to the right place. Thanks a bunch! You’re the bestest! šŸ˜€

  16. The entire Giants D-line deserved the MVP; especially Justin Tuck. But the MVP is definitely going to be given to the QB who led the improbable and impressive 83 yard winning TD drive. When Webster fell down and Brady hit Moss for that 6 yard TD with 2 and half minutes left I thought the game was over. Like the rest of the world I was wrong.

Someone explain to me why Coach Hoodie went for it on 4th and 13 instead of attempting a 49 yard FG! What was the margin of victory last night?

  17. Belichick went for it because that’s his style. He likes to gamble. In that case, it failed, but had it worked, he’d be a genius. Hindsight is always 20/20. I don’t know, I just didn’t feel good the entire game. For the first time all year, I just had no confidence in the offense. The pass rush was just too much for them to handle. Kudos to those guys.

  18. My condolences. I was rooting for Brady all the way. They had some questionable play calls, but it was a great game all the way around. I hated to see it, but I was extremely happy for Manning, Toomer and Strahan, even though I don’t care for any of them. Good to see the old guys getting a ring and good to see Eli step into his brother’s shoes.

Now that I heard confirmation that they cheated against us (Rams), I don’t know why I’m upset šŸ˜› šŸ˜› šŸ™‚

  19. Nothingman, I don’t know if you have NFL Network, but did you see the pre-game with Marshall Faulk and Deion Sanders? Marshall was livid about the whole thing when Deion says everyone needs to drop it. Two seconds later, they go back to Marshall for him to give his final thoughts and he totally changed his tune. Deion was so adamant that he just couldn’t argue a counter-point.

I am having a hard time understanding why people are so d*mn mean. I almost feel like the people who “hate” the Pats so much have no concept of reality- they keep spewing back all the stuff the media says, which we all know how legitimate they are. It boggles my mind what gives people the right to spew hate at someone they don’t know, no matter what the circumstance. I may be naive but I still believe that one is innocent until proven guilty and not just declared so because it makes the best story!

I probably shouldn’t post this but I have been reading some crazy stuff and I have a feeling it will only get worse in the days ahead….

  21. mellyh

Gosh, I don’t give a rats ass what anyone says, I love the Pats!

  22. mellyh, I can’t help but to agree with you again! Great minds think alike.

  23. Fourth down, a minute and change to go, you’re up by 4 in the SUPER BOWL…. sorry, but I’m going for it myself. I think the Pats played a great game, made very few mistakes, and if the score was different, it wasn’t because they won as much as it would have been because the Giants lost. They shut down Randy Moss, just like every other team did 15 weeks prior, and it didn’t work. So last night they shut down Tom Brady, forcing him to think quick and work without as much protection as he is accustomed to. But The Jints had the game lost several times, from bad calls to bad plays, so seeing them pick up and finally win, it was amazing. How many times do we have to hear it? It’s all about the defense. Defense wins games. Defense, defense, defense. And for a big chunk of the game, that’s all there was… both teams with strong defense.

Ten days until pitchers and catchers!

  24. I’m taking this better than I thought I would, but I still haven’t watched or read any post game bullshit either. I did hear that Eli was named MVP…wtf? What about Osi or Kawika? I hate the NFL and their obsession for all that is Manning.

  25. mellyh

Yea, I started feeling better when I just stopped listening and reading all the press (aka crap).

  26. Yeah, it should’ve been someone from the defense. For some reason, they love giving it to offensive players. Even back in Super Bowl 39, I thought that Rodney Harrison should have gotten it. I’ve actually been listening to WEEI all day and I feel pretty decent. Last night was the worst but it’s a brand new day.

  27. mellyh

So where do you guys see next year…. a rebuilding one?

  28. REBUILDING? Sorry, I don’t like the Pats much, but rebuilding?!? This is one of the absolute best football teams in the past 20 years, not the senior year at Notre Dame! Brady has what, another 400 years left in his career if he goes the way of Brett Favre? In my opinion, the only reason why this team lost Sunday night was because the Giants were the first team in 19 games to say, “Why are we focusing on shutting down Randy Moss? Let’s shut down Tom Brady,” and actually do it. So fix the hole, strengthen up the offensive line, and tweak the rest.

  29. gambitNJ69

Patriots still suck and are 18-1 on your brand new day… How do you feel about Belicheat leaving the game and going back to the lockerroom before the game was over.. what a poor sportsman… And yet he is all your idol!!

  30. I look at him leaving the game when he did the same reason why I got seven text messages at the same time; I thought the game was over. The clock went down to 0.00 and was reset to add a second to the clock, but by then everyone from both teams, media, and the like were all over the field.

  31. mellyh

Yea, I think after I said that I went, “huh?” I meant more in the way of getting more depth in the areas that we show weakness in. A little tune up, if you will. That said, I better hush up because I for one am not gonna bash a remarkable team that is feeling the sting much more than myself right now!

Hey gambit, you are a Jets fan, right. What did you like about their year(this is a genuine question by the way)?

  32. Definitely not a rebuilding year. I think the only two key elements that will need to be replaced are Samuel and Colvin. Stallworth will also go but he’s just an interchangeable cog in the machine. I just ignore Gambit. He’s all bark, no bite. šŸ˜‰ Also, Belichick gave Coughlin a hug. That’s his boy. I witnessed it. It was one of the last things I watched before turning the channel. Some folks are really stretching here.

I know this is my first post, but I just want to say a few things about myself. I’ve been reading for a bit. I’m a friend of Goob’s. I found you on Shyzer.

And when you said “To say Iā€™m crushed would be an understatement. :(” was the only thing I have been able to relate to in the past day.

I was overwhelmed. I almost had a panic attack right around 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Then, I just kind of lost it for the rest of the night.

When I was sitting in the hospital waiting room with Goob’s brother this morning ( UNFORTUNATELY, nothing Patriot-loss related, just a cold) I saw a little boy with a Giants hoodie on with his mom… and out of all the things I really wanted to say, I realized he was just some kid and decided to throw out a “good game”. His mother turned around, thanked me, and explained that her and her son were fans, but not as big as their husband and father that died in Iraq a month ago.

I can agree that they really did deserve it. Every player and fan did. They beat our perfect season. Congratulations. But, I do still feel dead to the world right now.

  34. SO sorry. But they were good. Playing great. And yet he is all your idol!!
