TV let me down last night
Yep, I watched American Idol last night. And yep, I just wasn’t all that impressed. It was boring! Even my current favorite, David Cook, let me down. I’ll admit his rendition of “Baba O’Reily” was pretty awesome (except for the ending) but Duran Duran? On American Idol? I love me some Simon LeBon, but not on American Idol’s rock night. I expected more. Syesha’s “Proud Mary” was okay, and David Archuleta (any relation to Adam?) was good, but *yawn* snooze-inducing. Say what you will about last season’s Blake Lewis, but that boy could put on a show. Hell, even Season Five winner Taylor Hicks could entertain me. I thought this was supposed to be the most talented group of finalists EVER?! Oh right – Michael Johns and Carly Smithson were already sent home in favor of Brooke and Jason Castro. Right.
I’ve got a bone to pick with Jason Castro. Never before in all my years of watching American Idol (wow that sounds geeky) have I ever witnessed a contestant care as little about his performance than Jason Castro. Never. Between his atrocious song choices and not even trying to remember lyrics, it’s almost as if he is TRYING to get voted off, and my dad is convinced that he is.
Jason reminds me of that really smart kid in high school that skips class to smoke weed and never brings in homework. Even without trying, he is almost there but you know if he put in just a smidgen of effort, he’d excel.
But what really sucks about Jason Castro is that no matter how badly he performs, he’ll probably stay tonight and Syesha, who has been working her butt off to improve, will go home because for some reason, the voters keep voting for him. Why? He’s not even that attractive. At least the infamous Sanjaya was so ugly he was cute, you know, like a pug. And, at least Sanjaya was entertaining, in a sort of trainwreck kind of way. Jason is neither. Send him home, America! Send him home!
And don’t even get me started on Chef
until the NFL Draft!

Oops.
If you are not interested in American Idol, just try something else. Go renting a DVD will be a good choice.
