Seven years already
Where were you seven years ago today?
I remember vividly where I was when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. In fact, I was preparing to fly to that very city for the day. I had free-flying benefits thanks to my dad’s job at US Airways, and I had not much to do. My boyfriend at the time was in Navy boot camp in Illinois. On September 11, 2001, he had only been in boot camp for three days. On September 10, I thought what better way to spend the day?
My plans derailed, my friend in NY drove here instead and we spent the day in downtown Boston. It was perhaps the eeriest day I have ever lived. Everything was closed. When we walked through the North End we could see the Coast Guard in motion, actively moving jersey barriers to create a blockade. There was security activity in front of every skyscraper in the Financial District. Newspaper hawkers were selling afternoon special editions of the Globe and Herald detailing the horrific events of the day. And when President Bush addressed the nation that night, we sat in a bar across from Government Center and watched. Passersby stopped and silently watched the bar’s TVs to hear what the president had to say. It was a poignant, almost chilling, moment. It wasn’t until I got home that night and the media had started to get names of those on board the planes that I discovered I knew some of the people killed.
On that one day, the world drastically changed forever, yet it seemed time stood still.
I vividly remember that day and I always will. I remember all the members of Congress, standing together, putting politics aside. I remember people coming together… complete strangers… as one nation. Moods were solemn, but for a short time, people were good to each other.
I vividly remember that day and I will someday tell my children the magnitude of those events much like my dad tells me of JFK’s assassination and my grandparents tell me of Pearl Harbor.
I vividly remember that day. I wonder how many other people still do, too.
until the NFL Draft!

You ever think there’s bad blood in patriot camp between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick/the team?
The only person who was bummed was Moss.
Everyone else seemed so indifferent to Toms presence on the field and getting hurt.
Tom didnt do the mid summer practices, he lost his parking spot, he didnt take any snaps in pre-season. I wonder if his work ethic has been in question by the organization this year.
The big telling factor is if Tom is on the sidelines to coach Matt Cassell. If Tom is not there to support his team, I think it will indicate that Tom will soon be leaving New England.
I know it sounds like a ridiculous conspiracy theory but it makes sense. Dont get me wrong I’m a huge fan but there’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t make sense.
The most amazing thing I found out and remember about that day was the woman that told people to go up becasue the way down was blocked yet the man who saved the other man went down that way and survived while those that listened to that woman did not. That is my remembrance. The thing I found out was the Father Mike died that day so all those that also passed had the gift of a sainted priest to help them cross over and understand what had happened to them.
Raskel
I will be waiting for the Monday morning Patriots post.
I also wonder if his work ethic has been in question by the organization this year.
Sorry to hear you knew some of the victims. Its funny how spending only a few minutes reading about 9/11 can bring that day back. I think most of us just want to forget it and move on, but I also think we, as Americans, have got to relieve that day in our minds, lest ever ever forget all that was lost. We owe it to those who died that day.
I think nearly everyone remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing when it all happened. I know I do. It was amazing the way everyone came together as a nation too….
