Meteorological fail
I’m not one to complain about snow but yesterday’s “3-5 inches” that turned into a foot of snow is ridiculous. Especially when you find yourself stuck having to drive 20 miles down an unplowed Rt. 128 to pick up the boyfriend’s kid.
Of course, Boyfriend thought it was “so beautiful” while I struggled to keep my shitty Honda from careening off the road. Must’ve been nice to be a passenger because being the driver sucked ass.
Unless you are a Honda sedan driver yourself, you would not believe how awesomely bad Hondas are in snow. It’s like driving a car on skis, not that I’ve ever been on skis myself but I assume that’s how it feels. My dad (the household car expert) tells me that I should put five or six cinder blocks in my trunk to weigh down the car and give it better traction. And here I thought my fat ass would be enough to weigh the car down. Apparently not enough.
My poor Honda. As if narrowly avoiding death 60 times yesterday afternoon wasn’t enough, the after-effects (Pot Holes) are for sure going to do my car in. Even the smallest crack in the road back in September has opened into a gaping (gaping, ha ha) crater. I hit a pot-crater this morning the size of the Grand Canyon and now I think I screwed up something important because now my steering wheel won’t stay still. With my luck, I’m going to be cruising down the highway and the tires are going to pop off.
Anyway, check out the table in my backyard. Does this look like a mere 3-5 inches of snow as was predicted on Saturday? No, it doesn’t.

Oh, so all Hondas are that way in the snow and ice? I thought it was just Tammy’s.
The snow on the table looks pretty cool, but definitely more than 3-5 inches unless some of it was there before.

The screwed up big here in Norfolk. They called for 1-3 inches and cancelled school before any amount of rain/snowfall fell, and what do you know not one snoflake or rain drop all day.
Made me think of when “dads” tell you that they walked three miles in the snow uphill both ways. Haha we don’t have to they cancell school.
We were in PA and came home to that lovely mound of snow. After driving 8 1/2 hours to get home we had to shovel for 2 before we could get in our house. We were NOT happy.
However, we have a Honda and it drives AWESOME in the snow. Maybe because it has 4WD, but honestly it’s been fantastic.
Hmmm, perhaps it’s just the Civics that are bad on snow, ice, etc.

Amen sista!! The fiancee and I drive a 97 Honda Civic, which I call “The Revenant” (a powerful form of undead) and it suuuuuucks in the snow. Oddly, her mom’s 2004 Accord with Traction Control (or whatever the kids are calling it nowadays) is boffo in the white stuff. Go figure. Either way I feel your pain on the slick road thing. Boooo.
I have a Honda Civic and recently found myself in Fort Wayne, Indiana after being in California for 26 years. At first, I thought maybe it’s because I wasn’t accustomed to driving in snow, but now I know….it’s the damn car. It weighs next to nothing compared to other cars, so I could be going 5MPH and it still manages to skid a bit.
Your dad’s idea is a good one. It’s what everyone here keeps telling me to do.

Well, the snow muffin is only going to get bigger because now the weather folks are predicting another foot of snow on Wednesday! Ack!
