The best part about turning the clocks back an hour is on mornings when you have to get up early, it doesn’t feel early at all! Waking up at 4 a.m. felt no different than my usual 5 a.m.

Today is a big day at work and is also the reason why I am up early. It’s the start of our annual “Retreat” which is nothing like a usual corporate retreat and everything like a high-tech science fair. It’s essentially an in-house conference where all of our researchers gather to discuss their projects, hang up posters (scientists love posters) and attend talks given by colleagues. And for my science-illiterate brain, I will probably understand none of it. But that’s OK because my job today isn’t about enrichment or whatever… I’m part of the team to ensure that everyone properly checks in and has a seat in the hall. Oh, what fun!

So, in about thirty minutes, I will head to work where I will meet a bunch of the volunteers and together we will take the good ol’ CT2 bus to H.M.S. and get ready for the onslaught of scientists coming for the day. I’m so excited! I just hope everything goes smoothly.
