I remember last year, my boss yelled at me for putting “Happy” in front of “Veterans Day” in the paper. What was I thinking, he asked. Veterans Day is a somber remembrance of our war heroes! He confused Veterans Day with Memorial Day, I think. He was quickly corrected once that edition came out and some veterans called him to explain that Veterans Day is a celebration of the men and women who have served our country.

If I was still working at the newspaper, I would not be sitting here at my kitchen table enjoying my day off. I’d be at my miserable desk at work, working. Thank goodness I’m not.

And Thank Goodness we have the wonderful men and women of our armed services sacrificing their time and lives so I can sit on my fat ass at home, wolfing down potato chips while complaining about my old job on my blog. Thank you, Veterans and active duty service members. Your contributions are as immeasurable as my gratitude toward you!
