Hello, Winter

Posted on November 18, 2009 by Angela

I don’t give a rat’s behind what the weather folks said, today was cold. This morning was freeeeeeeeeeezing and since I am still without an ice scrapper, it took my car’s defrost a good six minutes before I could sort of safely drive (due take note of the thick frost http://twitpic.com/pz2hj).

J.C. Monahan said the temperature this morning was 28 degrees Fahrenheit (I don’t know what the heck that is in Celsius but I assume it’s pretty hot compared to Absolute Zero). But, when I finally got my windshield sort of clear (as in a small peep hole allowing me to see figures that might jump in front of my car), I was able to head to the train station. And like a good “You Know You’re a New Englander” meme, I saw some dude – now get this – driving a convertible with the top down. In 28 degree weather. Top down. At 6:30 a.m. C’mon, people! That’s INSANE!

And continuing with the “You Know You’re a New Englander,” I saw about five or six dudes at North Station this morning in shorts. One passing right by at the same time as a woman who was wrapped to the gills in a giant scarf as if she was headed on an Antarctic expedition. It was cold, but not that cold. I bet she was from the South.
