I can’t help but feel personally responsible for the Patriots 33-14 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday. I let down the team, the fans, and myself. You see, our game day ritual includes properly setting up our living room. Everything must be in the proper position and this, my friends, is where I failed miserably.
Incapable of understanding how the Patriots could play so poorly through the first quarter, I looked up and noticed I had missed a huge part of our set-up. My “Biggest Fan” figurine was not on the coffee table where it is supposed to be. The Patriots began to play much better once the living room was set to proper Patriots game day feng shui, but the damage had been done. They just couldn’t overcome the insurmountable 24 point lead the Ravens had built up prior to me properly arranging my living room. IT’S ALL MY FAULT!!!!!!!
Overall, I can’t complain about this season. It was, as evident by the Richard Seymour trade, a rebuilding year and I expect to see some big changes in the coming off season, namely the departure of Adalius “Humble Pie – NOT” Thomas. I was pleased to see the development of safety Brandon Meriweather and I was also satisfied with the play of our other safety named Brandon (McGowan). I was most pleased with our very own German, Sebastian Vollmer. He stepped in and hardly skipped a beat. I hope corner Leigh Bodden returns for next season as well as RB Fred Taylor.
My biggest hope for the off season is for the Patriots to pick up a solid pass rusher as I feel that was one of their biggest defensive weaknesses throughout the ’09 season.
Now, I’m left with only one option for the remaining playoffs – Baltimore. I can’t cheer for the Colts, certainly not the Chargers and most definitely not the Jets. On the NFC side, I’m all about the Arizona Cardinals (again). Brett Favre makes me ill so I can’t root for the Vikes, the Cowboys are the Cowboys, and after hearing how downright RUDE Saints fans were to my cousin during the Patriots-Saints game (I’ll save that story for another day but let’s just say they put Eagles fans to shame), I am rooting for the Saints to do nothing but lose… bad.
Here’s to a “fowl” Super Bowl – Cardinals vs. Ravens!

Twitter Updates

ooof, that game was painful to watch. mainly the first quarter. edelman & faulk were the bright spot. not sure what got into tommy but he’s been a trooper this season. no matter what i read he is showing some serious leadership to those youngins’.
one thing i realized is how maligned the pats are by other fans and media. seriously, it borders on comical. that mute button is my best friend! lol
Leigh Bodden is gonna be great. Hope we keep him.
Meriweather is one crazy mo-fo & a keeper
Faulk plays forever and ever…besides troy and rodney (gosh I was crushed when they retired), I am most attached to this man
Wes and Julian.
I like vollmer a lot
i wont miss AT
now the guys can rest up. next year brings some surprise. how will the contracts pan out? even though the team i grew up with is mostly gone now I still love these guys and think they are going to get more and more consistent.
my picks for the SB.
AFC: god, and I mean this…it pains me to “root” for any of them. of the ones left the RAVENS (minus that sh*thead K Washington, sorry angela. the fact he did that at the end of the game pissed me off)
NFC: love an underdog (& Kurt Warner) CARDINALS.
I’d love to hear that story.
It’s ok Ang don’t take all the blame. You know, the team has been jinxed all year with that damn Pat Patriot logo patch sewn on their uni’s. As much as we all may love the old guy, The Football Gods have a definite ‘thing’ against Pat Patriot and that is all there is too it. The fact the team overcame and still won AFC East is a testament to them.
As far as the rest of the playoffs, the AFC is downright painful, our best choice is the Ravens. Total gack. In the NFC I like The Saints or Cards, of course they are playing each other next week..
No matter how you roll it almost all the choices make me wince.
Angela, You know that I’ve been holding my tongue regarding the Patriots loss on Twitter. I will end that silence now here:
It WAS all your fault.
Ernie, my dad has been FREAKING OUT all season over those uniforms. He screams, “I don’t ever want to see them again!”
The most important player we need to sign this offseason… Stephen Gostkowski. At least he’s restricted.
And it was all my fault.
I just wasn’t up to par this weekend.
I can’t believe it is over so fast
my beloved cowboys boohoo :’(
My condolences, Steve. I thought the Cowboys had finally gotten over the hump.
GO PATS!!
