Lord of the Rings

Anytime I worry about Tommy, I have to remind myself that he is just fine. Yesterday was another reminder as he received his Super Bowl 49 Championship Ring, along with the rest of the 2014 Patriots – other than Revis who has now missed the only ring ceremony he will probably be invited to.

I can’t wait for Ring #5!

46 Reasons Why I Love The Patriots

My website has been around for ten years (officially tomorrow – Feb. 5, 2002 was the original registration date) and it has seen four Super Bowls now. Back during Super Bowl 38, I devised a list of 38 Reasons why I love the Patriots, which I quickly updated the next year for our third Super Bowl run – a list that you can still find here. I started a “42” list but never got around to finishing it. And when you-know-what happened, the half-finished draft sat in my WordPress queue for years. True story.

Now that the Patriots have finally returned to the Super Bowl, I felt it was time to really update the list… also considering most items from the “39” list no longer apply. I present to you, my new and improved “46 Reasons Why I Love the New England Patriots.” And don’t laugh. I worked very hard on this list.

In addition to awesomeness, Tom Brady and I now have something else in common

Have you heard, Tom Brady doesn’t like the Jets. That doesn’t surprise me in the least, after the Rodney Harrison proclaimed last year on NBC how much New England hates the Jets. And it’s funny because there is nothing I hate more than a NY Jet.

But Tom Brady publicly admitting his disdain for the Jets also reminded me of this old gem that never really aired much:

Heh, never gets old.

Should he stay or should he go

I find it incredibly annoying that some of the same folks now in a tizzy over the belief that Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady might be a free agent at the end of the 2010 season are the same folks that were relentlessly lobbying for the team to trade Brady and stick with Matt Cassel at the end of the 2008 season. Make up your minds, fools!

Situations like this, for example, the way Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has been treated recently, are a strong indication of how ridiculous many Boston fans can be. Don’t even get me started on the treatment of Manny Ramirez.

Sometimes, being a Patriots fan feels like drowning in a sea of stupidity. That’s why I have to hand it to Steelers and Raiders fans sometimes. They might be cretins (I kid, I kid), but at least they know their football. And they’re FIERCELY loyal in ways an average Boston fan could never even hope to attain.

Seriously, I think I just want to move. 🙂

Wow, it has been a long season already

For the second year in a row, the Monday after Kick Off Sunday has been suck-ass. First Spygate, now Tom-Brady-ACL-gate. Can’t I catch a break?!

In all seriousness, I’ve been so consumed by personal drama and the crisis of a loved one, I think I’m emotionally prepared for this kind of thing. It would have been nice to have a good Patriots season to take my mind off of things but that’s not going to be the case.

But, I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t offer my thoughts, right? And, if there’s one facet of my life that I am the eternal optimist, it’s the Patriots. Let’s go…

That was not a dirty hit. C’mon guys. We bitch and moan when Vince Wilfork gets fined (for hits that I don’t think are dirty) and now when it happens against us, we freak out? Sure, Randy Moss thinks it was dirty. Tom’s his boy. Sometimes it doesn’t surprise me that our fanbase is despised throughout the land.

Since it did happen, and it does look like it’s the ACL, Week One is the best time for it to happen. Carson Palmer suffered a similar injury in the 2005 playoffs against the Steelers… an injury that appears to be worse than what Brady has endured. He was ready to go a few short months later. Of course, that’s a miraculous recovery but Brady will have a FULL 12 MONTHS of healing and rehabilitation.

Last I checked, it was a 53-man roster. I love that the national media thinks the Patriots are going to sink to the bottom of the AFC East. Hey, guys, the world thinks you’re nothing without #12. Whatcha think about that?

I could win games at quarterback with that offense. For real. It’s not going to be pretty but it’s not over.

It will push some fair-weather fake fans off the bandwagon. Smell y’all later, fuckheads.

The Patriots finish the season 10-6 and still win the AFC East. Yep, I said it.
